The protagonist, experimenting with the drug Keratonin once again (smh), found themselves in a hallucination at a live concert where alternative drag artist Klean Kunt was performing. The performance seemed satirical but also a jab at parts of the protagonist that they felt conflicted about. It made them question their positionality when it comes to choosing who to love, which is always political. What does it say about you, your relationship to yourself, and the community you come from, when you choose to be in partnership with someone so far removed from your experience, from a demographic that historically has wielded power over you, and used that to oppress your ancestors? It made them think of every partnership they saw their Black cis-men friends in, visible Black cis-men, Black cis-men everywhere. It made them think of the very few pieces of media that questioned this relationship. Because love is love, right? Right? Right????
It was uncomfortable, given the brainwashing Babylon had spent years doing to their mind. Uncomfortable, but necessary.
lyrics
Me and my white girlfriend,
She makes me feel like a king
Me and my white girlfriend,
She likes the way I sing,
Me and my white girlfriend,
She says I'm different to all the other Black guys
Me and my white girlfriend,
She says she doesn't like all the white guys
Me and my white girlfriend,
She got really good taste in music
Me and my white girlfriend,
She introduced me to alternative music,
Me and my white girlfriend,
I'm gonna teach her all about my culture
Me and my white girlfriend,
She's definitely not a culture vulture,
Me and my white girlfriend,
She likes to date the boys in the band,
Me and my white girlfriend,
It feels different, when I hold her hand,
Me and my white girlfriend,
She calls me that nigger dick!
Me and my white girlfriend,
She's the exception, you know it's different,
Me and my white girlfriend,
I feel so free and safe when I'm around her,
Me and my white girlfriend,
I just like to always be around her
Me and my white girlfriend,
I said
Me and my white girlfriend,
Me and my white girlfriend,
(Me and my white girl)
Together until the very end,
The very end
The very end
